One of the most fascinating things when my children were young was watching them take their first steps. I would grab them by their hands and stand them on their feet and gradually remove my hands as they would stumble to take their first steps. Although they may have stumble and fail, they would eventually get back up until they conquered the goal. Psalm 37:23-24 states that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down. As i look over my life, I have watched the Lord grab my hands, allowed me to stand on my two feet, slowly relinquish his hands from me and I have fallen. Taking steps into your purpose requires falling sometimes. You see God wants us to establish order in our lives. For example, before obtaining a Bachelor’s degree, you must have a high school diploma. Before obtaining a Master’s degree, you must have a Bachelor’s degree, etc. If I give the keys to my 29 year old son to my brand new car he could probably handle it. But if I gave him the keys at 13 years old, the outcome could warrant different results. What am I’m trying to say? Achieving steps into God’s purpose for your life requires a process. These processes starts in taking methodical, calculated steps.

The older I get, the more I’m understanding the value of process. Process precedes accomplishments. I would be first to admit that I don’t always like to wait for things to happen in my life. With my ADD type of personality I like things to happen fast. I call it the “microwave” phenomenal. God has to continue to show me that processes takes time!!! Psalm 27:14 admonishes us to “Wait on the Lord; be strong and take heart and WAIT for the Lord.”(NIV). The prayer that I have to constantly pray is “Lord, please give me the patience to wait on you. Help me to totally trust in your promises and not run in front of your purpose for my life. Help me to understand the processes that i need so that you get the glory that you so rightly deserve. In Jesus Name, Amen.”
